For you trivia buffs . . .

Useless bits of information is responsible for my entire existence, so my scribe tells me. I hope so, because she has found a website chocked full of useless trivia:

Faeries know how to have real fun, like dancing in the silvery moonlight, or flinging butterfly nectar at puppies. They don't sit around struggling to come forth with that one seed of knowledge they learned on the Discovery Channel when they were in the fourth grade.

Humans are a puzzlement.

Check out my scribe's MySpace page. You can also see Hurricane Mercedes's page, and several other good friends.

Faeries do NOT like snow!

I wasn't dreaming of a white Thanksgiving, and we didn't get one, either. But we sure got a white Sunday-after-Thanksgiving!

My scribe's cat, Annie, is plenty mad, too. Very mad. It's not her fault--she told the silly cat that it was snowing, but did Annie believe her? Not. But then cats aren't all that bright, in my estimation. Anyway, Annie yowled and yowled until my scribe finally open the slider for her. Out like a rocket she shot. But then all fours hit the snow, her hair and her tail all stood straight up. Ever so slowly, she turned her head and glowered at us. I'll swear she's been taking Clint Eastwood lessons. So then she sashayed back into the house, lifted one eyebrow chastising my scribe, then went to the furnace room and took a nap. That's where she is now. She won't even speak to my scribe, which upsets her, but I think she's lucky.

We're hoping the snow melts before morning since the only way to get on the main street from our house is by pushing the car. Too steep and not enough traction otherwise. Thankfully, it has quit snowing. Now, even though we're moldy here in Seattle, I'm praying for rain to melt all this nasty stuff.

After all, faeries do not like snow.

Romance Readers at Heart reviews Blue Moon Enchantment!

My scribe is a mess when it comes to reviews. Let's face it, authors (my scribe included) want all readers to love their stories, and of course this fervent desire leads to sniveling fits of insecurity. So unsightly and rather undignified, but there you have it. This diatribe is to explain to you why my scribe hopped around the house like a total idiot when she read the review for Blue Moon Enchantment on Romance Readers at Heart.

Special thanks to reviewer Heather Hiestand, who wrote:

Short stories have returned to romance! I adore short stories and had long wondered if they would ever be in favor in our favorite genre. Luckily, Highland Press has been putting out trade paperback volumes of the form, and BLUE MOON ENCHANTMENT is the second in a series about wishing under a magical blue moon (the second full moon in a month).

The stories range all across many romance subgenres, having as their only continuity a wish made under the blue moon, so there is something here for everyone. The authors also vary, from newly published to veterans with multiple full-length novels to their credit. You will meet mules and highwaymen, soldiers, teachers, interior decorators, ladies and widows, through various times and locales, both real and paranormal.

Particular standouts to me were the stories by Jill and Julia, Jacquie Rogers, Judith Laik, Michelle Scaplen, Ann Marie Bradley and Sherrie Holmes, but all of the stories have a unique twist on the influence of a wish-granting moon, and the power of true love.

Emerald City Bookfair!

Judith Laik

Jacquie Rogers

Sherrie Holmes

trying to look exceedingly writerly at the
Emerald City Bookfair, Oct. 7.

Whoa! Whodathunk?

And to think, in real life she's a decent, peaceful soul--okay, so maybe she procrastinates a little, but until she gets my book published, I'm not going to push her buttons. After all, I am the star.

But not this day, because these three goofy ladies were signing BLUE MOON ENCHANTMENT. Judith's story is Sentimental Journey, and Sherrie's story is Kissing Lessons. Of course you already know that my scribe forsook (is that a word? oh well, I don't have to worry about those things like authors do) me for a stinkin' mule. A mule! Yes, he's the sorcerer to King Arthur, but still . . . . Oh, yeah, her story is called When Mules Rush In.

You can order the book from Highland Press, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble.

I hope you do. It has excellent stories from 15 authors, including award-winning authors Dawn Thompson (who wrote the second story, connected to her story in Blue Moon Magic), Deborah MacGillivray, and Leanne Burroughs.

Let me know how you like it!

Blue Moon Enchantment

Featuring

When Mules Rush In

by
Jacquie Rogers

Do you ever wonder what happened to Merlin, the sorcerer to King Arthur? He's back in the Old West, only now he's a crotchety matchmaking mule
who has his hooves full with a sassy chicken named DeborahAnne.

And now, the second volume in the ONCE IN A BLUE MOON anthologies from Highland Press:

Blue Moon Enchantment

Kristi Ahlers, reviewer for Amazon says:

Highland Press once again offers readers another brilliant anthology to amuse and entertain. This break through publishing house has once again composed a series of short stories that are based on the magical elements of a Blue Moon.

Under the Faery Blue Moon by Dawn Thompson--Once again readers are treated to the high jinx of Puck and Oberon with Ms. Thompson's continuing story first begun in the anthology Blue Moon Magic. A love potion met for one certain couple is taken by everyone except the intended targets...what will Tatiana do?

The Anti-Kissing League by Leanne Burroughs--A good son spends his summer in Georgia helping family. It was the last place he wanted to be and the only place he finds love.

Leap of Faith by Jill and Julia offers a Chicago attorney a second chance at a happy ending with the one man she loved and lost eight years earlier after wishing on a blue moon.

When Mules Rush In by Jacquie Rogers--Merlin, King Arthur advisor is alive and well and mentoring another in the wilds of Wyoming. The fact that he is in the form of a mule and that the man he is helping is gambler and likes the ladies is no obstacle. Luke will find love.

The Star Traveler by Victoria Houseman--Haley Stone gives up everything in order to help her dieing mother. Now alone and despondent a family friend tells her about wishing to the star traveler. Will Haley find her happy ending in the form of a wish?

Sentimental Journey by Judith Laik--Eve kisses her fiancé goodbye as he is shipped off to war. His plane is shot down and Eve thinks she has lost her happy ending. But wishing on a Blue Moon could change all that.

A Blue Vacation by Michelle Scaplen--Two people are going to wind up in the right place at the right time in the Bahamas. Brenda and Nick have no idea what this trip is going to end up giving them.

Blue Moon Magic by Ann Marie Bradley--Claire Jacobs moves to Florida in order to help restore an old hotel. Claire is about to experience all the magic a Blue Moon can offer and more.

Kissing Lessons by Sherrie Holmes--Abigail has a terrible crush on a local lord. When she has a mishap with her new bike and is helped by a man she mistakenly she thinks is Lord Selkirk's gardener she enlists this man to help her make her wish come true with her handsome neighbor. Will her wish come true?

Muses in the Moonlight by Patty Howell--Calli Winston was abandoned as a child and when she looses her foster parents she takes her pain out on the Blue Moon. The moon hears her pleas and sends her someone to love.

Blue Moon Reunion by Gerri Bowen--Lady Piper Auban has not experienced the best luck with men. The one man she thought would never leave her is Robin. But, Robin is in a dungeon and thinks his current situation is because of Piper. This bold man makes a wish on a blue moon but will his wish come true?

A Wish Times Three by Jeanne Van Arsdall--Kathleen agrees to take care of her niece while her sister can enjoy an vacation despite the fact she has her own issues. With a little help from a blue moon three wishes are made but will they come true?

Moondance by Kemberlee Shortland--Ronan has loved Blánaid from their first meeting. She only sees him as a friend and he wants to change that. With the help of a setting sun and a wish perhaps Ronan will find his happy ending.

Beneath the Velvet Blue Moon by Candace Gold--One summer Nadine is with her parents at Flint Lake and she meets Michael. They both agree to meet again same time next year but life gets in the way and if these two are ever going to meet again they're going to need the help of a Blue Moon.

Devil in Spurs by DeborahAnne MacGillivray--Desdein Deshaunt has many different faces he shows the world with one of them being the "Devil in Spurs" a dangerous highwayman. When is younger brother is arrested he needs to rescue him and kidnaps the magistrates daughter Ashlyn. This decision is going to change Desdein's life in more ways than one. Perhaps he will finally find love.

There are stories here for every taste and desire. Time Travel, historicals, contemporaries. This is a strong effort that is anchored by Dawn Thompson and Deborah MacGillivray with wonderful new talent that you will want to keep an eye out for. This read will be a perfect addition for your keep shelf.

Thank you, Kristi!

What sort of Mythical Creature are you?

It's a quiz! Here are my results:

You scored as Faerie. Faerie: Aren't you a cute little flying person? Faeries are earth spirits. They live among each element completely hidden. They have cousins called Pixies. Pixies however, are very mischevious. They enjoy tormenting other creatures for fun. Little pranksters.. I hope you never meet one. Pixies have a bad reputation for finding a creature and clinging to them until death. Faeries can be somewhat close to a Pixie, but mostly they are loving, playful, and carry with them a child-like enthusiasm for life. Hide among the pedals of a Daisy, you are a Faerie.

My Scribe Has Returned!

Not that I'm annoyed or anything, but my scribe (the one on the right, not that you could tell the difference) has been spending too much time with her family and not enough time penning my stories. Do you think her grandsons are any cuter than me? I think not! See for yourself. Below is a picture of Moriah and her husband, Jason, with their three sons Cody (6), Collin (3), and Clayton (8 months) in the front.

My scribe spent three weeks in West Virginia. She didn't forsake me the whole time, though. On August 1 she had a booksigning at Pantera Breads with MJ Sager. Before that, she was in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Romance Writers of America conference.

From left to right: Leanne Burroughs, owner of Highland Press and author of two fantastic historical romances, Jacquie Rogers, Billie Warren Chai. and MJ Sager.

Now that I have my scribe back home, I'm going to wear her fingers to the nubbins with the prodigious amount of typing she has to do for me. Of all the nerve . . . leaving me for nearly a month.

She'll pay.

Oh yes, she'll pay.

I have set up the Faery Good Dating Service and now I'm waiting for my first blogger to contact me. They will--don't worry!

Cheers for debut author Shelli Stevens!!!

TOURIST ATTRACTION is a sensual story of Melanie and Brian--she wants a fling and he wants more.

This story has a solid plot and fully developed characters, making TOURIST ATTRACTION a page-turner all the way to the end. The plot is sound and the love scenes are hot, hot, hot!

I highly recommend this story, and will be waiting for Shelli Stevens' next release!

She's writing my story!

Who the Heck is Simon?

I'm so excited because today, my scribe is writing about my current visit to the Human World and how I bravely set up my own blog (this one, in fact) and my Faery Good Dating Service. The only fly in the ointment? Simon.

Simon is a cat who wants to find the perfect date for his lonely lady purrson. I won't tell you more, other than Simon is a pain in my very faery patootie. His scribe, DeborahAnne MacGillivray, better hurry up and get him out of my hair before I do something drastic!

This is the ninth story (Faery Hot Date)in Faery Special Romances. Of course, I'm starring in the leading role as Keely.

See you in September!

Meagan Hatfield pens EMBER'S DESIRE!

Look what's coming from Highland Press!

"WOW...is what comes to mind when reading Ember’s Desire." Aysel Arwen -
author of A Pharoah, A Spell and A Jade

a story in Blue Moon Magic
Reviewed by Kenda Montgomery - The Mystic Castle

Ember Galenorn longs for a life less ordinary--less ordinary than spellcasting and hercoven can provide. She craves a different life, one of love. Not the mostskilled witch, she nevertheless gives it one good last try one fateful solstice night. What she conjures is the makings of any woman's dreams. Balder is a god fallen from grace and at themercy of the under lord Loki. When Ember pulls Balder from hell, Loki will do all in his vengeful power to smote the two from existence. Ember is torn between her duties as a witch, while Balder is determined to best Loki for grievous wrongs in the past. Will Ember and Balder come to a compromise? And will Balder come to realize the good fortune fickle fate has handed him?

Ms. Hatfield's debut is one forged on solid ground. Without a doubt, Ember's Desire is one of the most enjoyable short stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading.Hatfield has created two main characters, and one foreboding villain, that abound with emotion, conflict and a fiery passion. Engaging scenarios, one right after the other, kept me on the edge, needing to see where each went. A wonderful treat of a read that left me breathless for more!

Look for it in the Blue Moon Magic anthology and be sure to check out more enthralling tales in Blue Moon Enchantment. An added bonus is Ms. Hatfield's coming full-length debut, A Magical Encounter, coming in 2007 from Wings ePress.

Blue Moon Magic--Only Days Away!

Yes, well, I'm not in Blue Moon Magic--or Blue Moon Enchantment for that matter. I'm highly miffed at my scribe for choosing a mule and a chicken (of all creatures!) instead of me. Can you believe that??? Ah, but since she's working so hard on my book (in which I'm the leading lady, of course), I will tell you about the next book she and her sister Highalnd Press authors are releasing.

When Mules Rush In
Do you ever wonder what happened to Merlin, the sorcerer to King Arthur? He’s back on the Old West, only now he’s a matchmaking mule, who’s about to get his own romantic come-uppance.

Highland Press is pleased to announce the release of their newest anthologies, Blue Moon Magic and Blue Moon Enchantment. A Blue Moon only happens once every two years., a time when magical things can happen.

What might happen when you wish upon a Blue Moon?

You'll just have to read these books to find out. Each book contains 15 stories of magical moments inspired by a Blue Moon.

Added bonus: Dawn Thompson's story in Blue Moon Magic has a sequel in Blue Moon Enchantment. You won't want to miss either one! And both books feature stories by my personal portrait artist, Deborah MacGillivray, and award-winning author, Leanne Burroughs.

I'm not certain, but I'm hoping Sadie, the somewhat tarnished Angel, will make an appearance as well. Diane Davis White is her scribe. Of course, there are many other talented writers, as well, and when I get the list, I'll post them for you.. One of my old buddies, Meagan Hatfield (great blogger, she is!) wrote a story but I don't know the title. We'll know the titles and authors soon!

Faeries of the Caribbean

So many stories, so short a time. Just beware of the hero in my scribe's next story, Faeries of the Caribbean, which will be in Faery Special Romances.

My pirate name is:

Captain Devlin Angel

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

Upcoming Releases!

And announce her scribe's upcoming releases.

When Mules Rush In features Merlin. You may remember him from King Arthur's days? Well, now he's a matchmaking mule in 1871 Wyoming. His story will be included in the Once in a Blue Moon anthology to be released in May, 2006.

Then, in August, Highland Press will release my scribe's solo anthology, Faery Good Tales. This is especially good news because finally I've been given the headliner status that a star like me deserves. Ten stories of romance, faeries, and of course, moi. I'm the human equivalent of four years old in the first story so my wing etiquette isn't quite up to par yet.

Meantime, please order your Faery Good Advice T-shirts. With a little luck, you might be able to get a Merlin shirt pretty soon, too. Not that his would be as good as mine, you understand, but mine might be a bit too elegant to wear at, say, a rodeo, where they have dirt and worse . . . Let Merlin have those venues. I'll keep to the booksignings and banquets.

Now That I'm a Star . . .

I mean really. We all knew that it wouldn't take long for the public to be clamoring for Keely's Faery Good Advice promo items. And now they're here!

Put on your strappy shopping shoes, get out your credit card, and go to the Highland Press Store!

You'll find T-shirts (starring me, of course), long-sleeved T-shirts with my friend Pam on them (Dude Looks Like a Lady), and even something featuring Shelley (Single Girls Can't Jump). You can buy a really cool tote bag with the No Law Against Love cover on it. I simply must have one of those! I, of course, already bought the T-shirt starring moi for my scribe and her staff (PR mogul Hurricane Mercedes, plotting wench Moriahhh, and the crafty Idaho Cat Lady). We can wear them at our booksigning on March 25.

Oh, and don't forget to buy No Law Against Love, on sale now! All profit goes to breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society. We hope all breast cancer patients have the same happy results as the characters in our stories!

Order online at:

Barnes & Noble
Amazon
Highland Press

Or, of course, you can order the book from your local independent bookstore.

Who has seen Meagan Hatfield's blog lately? Tell her your romantic Valentine's Day story. Come on--it'll be fun!

My scribe can hardly wait for Meagan's book A Magical Encounter to be released and we're hoping it will be loooong before the 2007 slot where it's currently scheduled.

Now for the tantalizing teaser of next time's blog:

Oh. My. Gosh.

I must be patient.

Oh, heck, I'm NOT!

You can order No Law Against Love several places:

Highland Press

Barnes & Noble

Borders

Don't forget: Shelley and I have a booksigning at Hastings Books, Music, & Video in Boise, Idaho, March 25. Hurricane Mercedes set it all up for us. We'll even let our scribe, Jacquie Rogers, sign books for us. I hate writer's cramp, you know. I'd much rather pass out Keely's Faery Good Bath Salts.

Anticipation . . .

Okay, here's the theory: anticipation makes the prize sweeter.

BAH!!!!

I'm nearly going out of my mind waiting to hold No Law Against Love in my manicured hands (I just had gold stars painted on my fingernails!)--but an unforeseen printer glitch has delayed shipment, so I have a week more to wait.

Also, for those of you who are excited about my booksigning, well, you'll have to wring your manicured hands, too, because the signing has been rescheduled for March 25 at Hastings Books, Music & Video in Boise, Idaho.

Thanks to my PR agent, Hurricane Mercedes, who arranged for my booksigning, all the NLAL authors in the United States have the opportunity to do booksignings at their nearest Hastings store. Is she fab or what??? I'm baffled that she's not a faery. I mean really, could a human do what she does. I think not.

Oh, and guess what? Remember Maisie and Pam? Well, their scribe tells me that they have a picture of me and some of my fae friends on their desk notebook! Maisie and Pam are just as anxious as I am to receive their books. And did you know that their scribe, Kemberlee Shortland, lives not far from my portal where I can travel from the human world to the Faery World? Yes, Ireland, the land of Magick. My scribe would love to visit there. I've told her all about it.

NO LAW AGAINST LOVE is now available!!!

The moment that has made my scribe and I breathless with anticipation is here! No Law Against Love is now available through

Amazon
Barnes & Noble
Highland Press
Your independent bookstore.

I star as travel agent Keely Smith in Faery Good Advice. You'll want to read my story first, of course.

The 16 authors must be pretty serious about making money for breast cancer research. Here's the press release:

Jacquie Rogers and fifteen other writers from the US, Canada, and Europe, have banded together to benefit breast cancer research. Rogers contributed two of the twenty-four short stories contained in an anthology titled NO LAW AGAINST LOVE, which is due out just in time for Valentine’s Day. The anthology was conceived by the editors at Highland Press to launch their new Wee Dram imprint. All profits from the sale of this book, including author royalties, will be donated to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

Each story in the anthology pokes fun at silly laws from all over the world and celebrates the joy of falling in love. The stories are heartwarming and hilarious. This anthology is available from all major online retailers, including Amazon.com, or ordered at your local bookstore.

"I am delighted to be part of this project," said Rogers, a frequent presenter at local Seattle writers’ conferences and on-line writing instructor. According to Highland Press editors Leanne Burroughs and DeborahAnne MacGillivray, "We wanted to commemorate the launch of our new imprint in a special way. The NO LAW AGAINST LOVE collection will make a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift while supporting a worthy cause."

Title: No Law Against Love
Publisher: Highland Press
ISBN#: 0-9746249-3-4

So order your copy today, and while you're at it, order copies for your mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, girlfriend, and any other female humans of your acquaintance. In fact, it's such a big book (400+ pages!) that it could be used in lieu of the phone book for kids to sit on.

Single Girls Can't Jump

Dear Fans: (Meagan says I have many fans. She is such a darling.)

Many of you have sent my scribe messages concerning her short story, Single Girls Can't Jump. That's her second story in No Law Against Love. Of course I was first. There's a blurb on the NLAL site if you really must read it. Frankly, I think Shelley Clark doesn't have enough to do. You wouldn't catch me jumping out of a perfectly good airplane!
Anyway, here's her silly cover. So there. Now you can't say I didn't give the wench equal time.

There must be an elf in my computer somewhere. I spent a long time on Meagan's 7 Things . . . many hours, actually, and somehow the computer ate it. I said some very unfaery-like things. But it's gone now. And truly, you know how witty I am.

And all because I wanted to put the last L on Rufus Sewell's name.

It must have had something to do with that three-day-long kiss.
