Adapting to the 21st Century

Can't Keep a Good Woman Down . . .

Whooeey, baby. Things have changed a bit since my last visit to the Human World when you had to ring the operator and ask to be connected to the person with whom you wanted to talk. Now, there's internet and wi-fi and PDAs.

I have set up the Faery Good Dating Service and now I'm waiting for my first blogger to contact me. They will--don't worry!

She's writing my story!

Who the Heck is Simon?

I'm so excited because today, my scribe is writing about my current visit to the Human World and how I bravely set up my own blog (this one, in fact) and my Faery Good Dating Service. The only fly in the ointment? Simon.

Simon is a cat who wants to find the perfect date for his lonely lady purrson. I won't tell you more, other than Simon is a pain in my very faery patootie. His scribe, DeborahAnne MacGillivray, better hurry up and get him out of my hair before I do something drastic!

This is the ninth story (Faery Hot Date)in Faery Special Romances. Of course, I'm starring in the leading role as Keely.

See you in September!

Meagan Hatfield pens EMBER'S DESIRE!

Look what's coming from Highland Press!

"WOW...is what comes to mind when reading Ember’s Desire." Aysel Arwen -
author of A Pharoah, A Spell and A Jade

a story in Blue Moon Magic
Reviewed by Kenda Montgomery - The Mystic Castle

Ember Galenorn longs for a life less ordinary--less ordinary than spellcasting and hercoven can provide. She craves a different life, one of love. Not the mostskilled witch, she nevertheless gives it one good last try one fateful solstice night. What she conjures is the makings of any woman's dreams. Balder is a god fallen from grace and at themercy of the under lord Loki. When Ember pulls Balder from hell, Loki will do all in his vengeful power to smote the two from existence. Ember is torn between her duties as a witch, while Balder is determined to best Loki for grievous wrongs in the past. Will Ember and Balder come to a compromise? And will Balder come to realize the good fortune fickle fate has handed him?

Ms. Hatfield's debut is one forged on solid ground. Without a doubt, Ember's Desire is one of the most enjoyable short stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading.Hatfield has created two main characters, and one foreboding villain, that abound with emotion, conflict and a fiery passion. Engaging scenarios, one right after the other, kept me on the edge, needing to see where each went. A wonderful treat of a read that left me breathless for more!

Look for it in the Blue Moon Magic anthology and be sure to check out more enthralling tales in Blue Moon Enchantment. An added bonus is Ms. Hatfield's coming full-length debut, A Magical Encounter, coming in 2007 from Wings ePress.

Blue Moon Magic--Only Days Away!

Yes, well, I'm not in Blue Moon Magic--or Blue Moon Enchantment for that matter. I'm highly miffed at my scribe for choosing a mule and a chicken (of all creatures!) instead of me. Can you believe that??? Ah, but since she's working so hard on my book (in which I'm the leading lady, of course), I will tell you about the next book she and her sister Highalnd Press authors are releasing.

When Mules Rush In
Do you ever wonder what happened to Merlin, the sorcerer to King Arthur? He’s back on the Old West, only now he’s a matchmaking mule, who’s about to get his own romantic come-uppance.

Highland Press is pleased to announce the release of their newest anthologies, Blue Moon Magic and Blue Moon Enchantment. A Blue Moon only happens once every two years., a time when magical things can happen.

What might happen when you wish upon a Blue Moon?

You'll just have to read these books to find out. Each book contains 15 stories of magical moments inspired by a Blue Moon.

Added bonus: Dawn Thompson's story in Blue Moon Magic has a sequel in Blue Moon Enchantment. You won't want to miss either one! And both books feature stories by my personal portrait artist, Deborah MacGillivray, and award-winning author, Leanne Burroughs.

I'm not certain, but I'm hoping Sadie, the somewhat tarnished Angel, will make an appearance as well. Diane Davis White is her scribe. Of course, there are many other talented writers, as well, and when I get the list, I'll post them for you.. One of my old buddies, Meagan Hatfield (great blogger, she is!) wrote a story but I don't know the title. We'll know the titles and authors soon!

Faeries of the Caribbean

So many stories, so short a time. Just beware of the hero in my scribe's next story, Faeries of the Caribbean, which will be in Faery Special Romances.

My pirate name is:

Captain Devlin Angel

Even though there's no legal rank on a pirate ship, everyone recognizes you're the one in charge. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.

Upcoming Releases!

And announce her scribe's upcoming releases.

When Mules Rush In features Merlin. You may remember him from King Arthur's days? Well, now he's a matchmaking mule in 1871 Wyoming. His story will be included in the Once in a Blue Moon anthology to be released in May, 2006.

Then, in August, Highland Press will release my scribe's solo anthology, Faery Good Tales. This is especially good news because finally I've been given the headliner status that a star like me deserves. Ten stories of romance, faeries, and of course, moi. I'm the human equivalent of four years old in the first story so my wing etiquette isn't quite up to par yet.

Meantime, please order your Faery Good Advice T-shirts. With a little luck, you might be able to get a Merlin shirt pretty soon, too. Not that his would be as good as mine, you understand, but mine might be a bit too elegant to wear at, say, a rodeo, where they have dirt and worse . . . Let Merlin have those venues. I'll keep to the booksignings and banquets.

Now That I'm a Star . . .

I mean really. We all knew that it wouldn't take long for the public to be clamoring for Keely's Faery Good Advice promo items. And now they're here!

Put on your strappy shopping shoes, get out your credit card, and go to the Highland Press Store!

You'll find T-shirts (starring me, of course), long-sleeved T-shirts with my friend Pam on them (Dude Looks Like a Lady), and even something featuring Shelley (Single Girls Can't Jump). You can buy a really cool tote bag with the No Law Against Love cover on it. I simply must have one of those! I, of course, already bought the T-shirt starring moi for my scribe and her staff (PR mogul Hurricane Mercedes, plotting wench Moriahhh, and the crafty Idaho Cat Lady). We can wear them at our booksigning on March 25.

Oh, and don't forget to buy No Law Against Love, on sale now! All profit goes to breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society. We hope all breast cancer patients have the same happy results as the characters in our stories!

Order online at:

Barnes & Noble
Amazon
Highland Press

Or, of course, you can order the book from your local independent bookstore.

Who has seen Meagan Hatfield's blog lately? Tell her your romantic Valentine's Day story. Come on--it'll be fun!

My scribe can hardly wait for Meagan's book A Magical Encounter to be released and we're hoping it will be loooong before the 2007 slot where it's currently scheduled.

Now for the tantalizing teaser of next time's blog:

IT'S HERE!

Oh. My. Gosh.

No Law Against Love has shipped. One person already has it in her grubby little mitts and is going to be doing a booksigning!

The book will here soon, and you can buy one, too!

I must be patient.

I must.

I really must.

Oh, heck, I'm NOT!

You can order No Law Against Love several places:

Highland Press

Barnes & Noble

Amazon

Borders

Don't forget: Shelley and I have a booksigning at Hastings Books, Music, & Video in Boise, Idaho, March 25. Hurricane Mercedes set it all up for us. We'll even let our scribe, Jacquie Rogers, sign books for us. I hate writer's cramp, you know. I'd much rather pass out Keely's Faery Good Bath Salts.

Anticipation . . .

Okay, here's the theory: anticipation makes the prize sweeter.

BAH!!!!

I'm nearly going out of my mind waiting to hold No Law Against Love in my manicured hands (I just had gold stars painted on my fingernails!)--but an unforeseen printer glitch has delayed shipment, so I have a week more to wait.

Also, for those of you who are excited about my booksigning, well, you'll have to wring your manicured hands, too, because the signing has been rescheduled for March 25 at Hastings Books, Music & Video in Boise, Idaho.

Thanks to my PR agent, Hurricane Mercedes, who arranged for my booksigning, all the NLAL authors in the United States have the opportunity to do booksignings at their nearest Hastings store. Is she fab or what??? I'm baffled that she's not a faery. I mean really, could a human do what she does. I think not.

Oh, and guess what? Remember Maisie and Pam? Well, their scribe tells me that they have a picture of me and some of my fae friends on their desk notebook! Maisie and Pam are just as anxious as I am to receive their books. And did you know that their scribe, Kemberlee Shortland, lives not far from my portal where I can travel from the human world to the Faery World? Yes, Ireland, the land of Magick. My scribe would love to visit there. I've told her all about it.

Guess what?

I've formed my own email group for advice to the lovelorn. I might even consider doing a newsletter every now and then.

Or not.

Anyway, if you want to join my list, my scribe inserted this convenient button below. Just click on it and yahoo will take you from there. Don't say you weren't warned.

NO LAW AGAINST LOVE is now available!!!

The moment that has made my scribe and I breathless with anticipation is here! No Law Against Love is now available through

Amazon
Barnes & Noble
Highland Press
Your independent bookstore.

I star as travel agent Keely Smith in Faery Good Advice. You'll want to read my story first, of course.

The 16 authors must be pretty serious about making money for breast cancer research. Here's the press release:

Jacquie Rogers and fifteen other writers from the US, Canada, and Europe, have banded together to benefit breast cancer research. Rogers contributed two of the twenty-four short stories contained in an anthology titled NO LAW AGAINST LOVE, which is due out just in time for Valentine’s Day. The anthology was conceived by the editors at Highland Press to launch their new Wee Dram imprint. All profits from the sale of this book, including author royalties, will be donated to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer research.

Each story in the anthology pokes fun at silly laws from all over the world and celebrates the joy of falling in love. The stories are heartwarming and hilarious. This anthology is available from all major online retailers, including Amazon.com, or ordered at your local bookstore.

"I am delighted to be part of this project," said Rogers, a frequent presenter at local Seattle writers’ conferences and on-line writing instructor. According to Highland Press editors Leanne Burroughs and DeborahAnne MacGillivray, "We wanted to commemorate the launch of our new imprint in a special way. The NO LAW AGAINST LOVE collection will make a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift while supporting a worthy cause."

Title: No Law Against Love
Publisher: Highland Press
ISBN#: 0-9746249-3-4

So order your copy today, and while you're at it, order copies for your mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, girlfriend, and any other female humans of your acquaintance. In fact, it's such a big book (400+ pages!) that it could be used in lieu of the phone book for kids to sit on.

Single Girls Can't Jump

Dear Fans: (Meagan says I have many fans. She is such a darling.)

Many of you have sent my scribe messages concerning her short story, Single Girls Can't Jump. That's her second story in No Law Against Love. Of course I was first. There's a blurb on the NLAL site if you really must read it. Frankly, I think Shelley Clark doesn't have enough to do. You wouldn't catch me jumping out of a perfectly good airplane!
Anyway, here's her silly cover. So there. Now you can't say I didn't give the wench equal time.

There must be an elf in my computer somewhere. I spent a long time on Meagan's 7 Things . . . many hours, actually, and somehow the computer ate it. I said some very unfaery-like things. But it's gone now. And truly, you know how witty I am.

And all because I wanted to put the last L on Rufus Sewell's name.

It must have had something to do with that three-day-long kiss.

Happy 2006!

It's about time 2006 rolled in. After all, you can't read Faery Good Advice, in which I star (albeit such a small role for my talent), until the NO LAW AGAINST LOVE anthology is published, and it's coming soon! All profits go to Breast Cancer Prevention.

* * * * *

We fae folk have a tradition of granting wishes to our favorite humans on New Year's Day. My wish for you is to have a happy, healthy, 2006. Oh, and be smothered in milk chocolate and champagne . . . with a person of the opposite sex sucking your toes. Yes, that sounds quite nice. LadyMacBeth, I wish you luck in your love life.

My blog has only been up a few days and already I've made some great friends. Check out Meagan Hatfield's blog for some fun things to do and see, including a rather nice picture of moi. Mike Flynn's blog is full of, well, full of it. You gotta see it to believe it.

Feel free to ask questions. My advice to the lovelorn is exceptionally sound. I answer any and all question, unless, of course, I choose not to.

The Virgin Voyage

I'm Keely, star of the short story, Faery Good Advice. Now really, a faery of my talent should have had a full-length book but my scribe, Jacquie Rogers, stubborn soul that she is, saw otherwise. So I'm relegated to dispensing advice through this blog.

You can read all about me in NO LAW AGAINST LOVE, an anthology of short stories published by Highland Press. Buy copies for yourself, your mom, your sisters, and your neighbors! All profits go to Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention.
